Worship Begins in the presence of God

“We do not worship God in order to get Him to give us something but we worship in a way that pleases Him when we see what He has already done”

Luke 17:15-16 And one of them when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, and fell down on his face at His feet.

Sometimes we think that the road to our blessing runs through a place we call “worship”. But true worship never is concerned with visiting the place called religion. In fact in the story from Luke’s Gospel about ten lepers, the only one who came back to worship Jesus was the one who chose not to go to the priest.

We need to lose the idea entirely that we can produce something called worship. True worship always begins in heaven and comes down to us when we suddenly realize what God has already given. We may try to show everyone around us what seems to be worship, but Jesus knows the truth. He is waiting for us to finally see what He has done, turn back, give God the glory and worship at His feet!

My wife and I serve as members of a worship team at a multicultural church. Our members are from Brazil, Nepal and the U.S.. Because of the many languages and cultures in our local body we face unique challenges, such as how many songs will we do in English today? What new songs can we use in either language that are simple enough for the people to sing. The songs, the devotions and insights here are a small portion of some of the ways God is leading us as we push towards the goal. I pray that these will be both a blessing and an encouragement for those of you who may pass by Praise 2 Worship.
