8th Day of Christmas: The Gift of Rest

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls Matthew 11:29

January 2013 030

In all the hurry towards Christmas, it is too easy to forget to rest for a moment at the manger. God came and rested here upon the earth as the humble child of Mary. He entered in the unhurried nine months in the waiting room of her womb. He didn’t burst forth with proclamations of greatness flowing from his own lips, but in a meek quietness. Shepherds were the first to know as they rested with their flocks. The same God who has awakened us to the glory has also gently invited us to rest our souls in Him alone!

So very very true! Rest is something that we do not do enough around the holiday season! Wonderful post!

Yes I am preaching to myself on this one because it is so easy to forget and there is no way to get back the days wasted worrying about getting everything done!
