In Northeast Pennsylvania our stone walls in the farming areas are a part of our heritage and I have sometimes done a bit of repair to rebuild them. But as beautiful as they are it is important to think carefully about what walls we build in the spiritual realm of our lives. One of the principal works of Jesus is to tear down walls that separate us from each other and from Him.
For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us Ephesians 2:14
I also love the advice from Robert Frost, because the more we keep others out, the more we keep ourselves in.
” Before I built a wall I’d ask to know
What I was walling in or walling out,
And to whom I was like to give offence.
Something there is that doesn’t love a wall, ”
